FEDERAL LGBTQ+ BUSINESS PROTECTION ACT: The LGBTQ Business Equal Credit Enforcement and Investment Act, led by Congressman Ritchie Torres, passed the House in 2021. The law would help ensure that LGBTQ+ business owners have equal access to capital and credit from lenders by requiring financial institutions to collect relevant gender identity and sexual orientation data from business owners. This law would also help ensure that the economic development needs of LGBTQ+ business owners are properly considered and met. This bill will now be introduced in the Senate by Senators Alex Padilla and Kirsten Gillibrand. More than the los angeles blade.
