HomeSafe appoints two to board
HomeSafe, a local nonprofit whose mission is to help victims of child abuse and domestic violence in South Florida, recently named Bjarne Borg and Val Perez to its board of directors.
HomeSafe claims to be the leading provider of prevention and response services, serving more than 14,000 infants, children, young adults and families each year. HomeSafe is one of five specialty therapy group agencies in Florida – the only one in Southeast Florida – and currently serves 50% of all children these organizations serve.
Mr. Borg is a resident of Jupiter and was educated in Sweden, where he studied accounting and economics. He is co-founder and executive chairman of Index Investment Group, a private and entrepreneurial company that specializes in the development of commercial projects in real estate, renewable energy and innovative equity investments.
Mr. Perez is a resident of West Palm Beach. Prior to entering the workforce, Perez graduated from Furman University’s CBA Executive Banking School. He also studied finance at the University of Arizona. Perez is the Head of Legendary Programs at TD Bank, where he oversees and leads its #BeLegendary initiative, including the development of sales strategies, processes and programs across all channels.
Palm Beach North Chamber Hires 3
The Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce has hired three new team members: Brian Elkins, Director of Events; Charlotte James, Marketing and Communications Manager; and Sarah Nouis, Member Development Manager.
Prior to joining the chamber, Mr. Elkins worked for the Solid Waste Authority of Palm Beach County for more than 20 years, overseeing the administration of the county’s recycling program while honing his expertise in project management and project planning. ‘events.
Ms. James graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a BS in Business Marketing and is currently pursuing her Masters in Business Management and Leadership at Western Governors University.
Originally from Minnesota, Ms. Nouis graduated from the University of Minnesota, Duluth with a degree in education. She has spent much of her career in education. She worked as a civics teacher at Jupiter for 15 years before joining the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce.

A café receives the program’s first loan
The City of West Palm Beach has announced the first loan recipient under its COVID-19 Recovery Assistance Loan Program for Small and Minority/Women. The new loan program was created in February, in response to the need created by the pandemic and its impact on the local small business community.

Herman Miller opens at the Square
Herman Miller, a member of the Miller-Knoll collective, opened at The Square in West Palm Beach.
